Will try to keep this as short as possible wasnt sure whether to post in cpu section though. Basically got my system 2 years ago made of a p5e deluxe motherboard and a core 2 quad 6700 (2.66ghz) cpu running a 4870x2. I basically have the option to swap my p5e deluxe for a 780i motherboard and swap my 4870x2 for a gtx470. Question is, would running GTX 470 sli be affected much by the q6700 cpu?

I got a xfx 780i, it is not all that great i/o wise. Nvidia chipsets have always been slower than what Intel had to offer. So just overclock on what you have and run the sli hack. Then you are set. For 775 to really worth with modern cards you really need to push those clocks higher.

Would the sli hack work on these modern cards though?

sorry to revive the dead topic, but i got some 470s on the extreme cheap. Im thinking of overclocking cpu with a decent cooler to about 3.4 if i can get it stable. performance i hope is good then and will hold me over to ivy bridge and gtx680
