What does detecting array mean

what does detecting array mean as this comes up when i try to install my ata hard drive.

Sounds like you have RAID enabled in your BIOS, or you've connected the new drive to a set of ports which are dedicated to RAID functionality (typically a different color SATA port than the rest).
