I put it together and it turns on, but nothing comes on to my screen. All of the fans start, the LEDs on the MB light up saying the CPU is on, CPU fan spins, and GPU fan spins. I don't know what's wrong with it. The speaker/buzzer made noises that went like this: mid mid high low low low low low

i unplugged everything and then reassembled, testing along the way
CPU+MB+PSU=shutdown right away
CPU+MB+PSU+HDD=shutdown right away
CPU+MB+PSU+HDD+RAM=BEEP CODE
CPU+MB+PSU+HDD+RAM+GPU=BEEP CODE

So I guess there could be something wrong with the RAM, but the computer instantly shut off without it so I really don't know. Could be the GPU...

I went through this list, except breadboarding, with no luck.

Also, did the PSU paperclip test and it seemed to work.

Any advice?

I recommend testing the PSU voltages. The paper clip test is false positive, in that just because the fan turns on in the PSU, many people think the PSU is still good. with the paper clip test, you've only proven that the PSU can convert AC to DC, but you haven't proven that the PSU is actually supplying power (correctly).

Breadboarding would also be highly adviseable, as you may have a short somewhere between the mobo and the case. Ruling this out will help in the diagnosis. Not performing this step will leave one more possibility.

Should you get your system to display, test your RAM using MemTest86+ v4.2 . Test the sticks individually for 2-3 passes each. If there are no errors, get into your BIOS and manually configure the RAM/DRAM settings to the specs shown on the sitckers on your RAM modules.

ok, i tested it out of the case and i got some beeps, but it appears to be working! so how do i stop the case from shorting it when i put it beck in? electrical tape...?
there are raised metal bumps in my case, the MB doesn't fit with standoffs in them, so should i just puut electrical tape over them? The screws that hold the MB in place do however go through some of them.
thanks guys

Good. You've found the problem. Yes, the bumps are used as standoffs for your particular case. If the screws you are using are too long, find shorter screws. You don't need to use anything other than the screws to mount the mobo. Don't forget to manually set your RAM configuration.
