Im building the currecnt system to play gmaes like crysis 2, upcoming bf3 etc....
- OCZ 400W StealthXStream II

-CPU Intel 1155 i3 2100 Box (3,10GHz)

-Asus P8H61-M LE Rev. B3

- GSKILL PC3-12800 4GB Ripjaws CL9 (2x2GB) DDR3

- Gainward GeForce GTX460 768MB SE GDDR5 PCI-E or ATI 6850( I play on 1280x1020 res. but i want to pplay with nice FPs at high settings, if this gpu is a bit overkill for my system let me know. I also dont want to upgrade for the next 2 years)

TOTAL: 377.420 USD ( without gpu), that leaves me with aprox 160 dlrs bugdet for the gpu.

Will this system run todays most demanding games with constant FPS on high settings. Also is my psu enough if i upgrade to an I7 and better gpu? ( i wont be doing Oc or sli)

At that resolution I think you should be fine playing any game as long as it's not cpu limited, not sure how a hyper threaded dual core performs in cpu dependent games like GTA IV, but I would think it would be ok..?? As for lasting 2 years, that really depends on the games that come out, so I couldn't really tell you, but I think you should be fine at that resolution with almost any game out right now.

Here are some benchmarks on toms GPU charts just to give you an idea, but keep in mind that you are running a different system, but at the same time your resolution is much lower. And I would disregard the 3dmark 11 scores in FPS because thats technically just a benchmark, and as you can see most of the games run decent even at the higher resolutions.

On a side note, I am running two gtx 480's in sli, with an i7 920 and 8gb of ram, and Flight Sim X still runs like crap on my system. Every other game plays awsome though. So there will always be those oddball games like that.

Look at a Sapphire HD 5850 Xtreme for a good card in that price range. It's performance numbers are close to the HD 6870 for only $150.

An i7-930 with an HD 5850 Xtreme pulled 391 watts at the wall. At 90% efficiency (80 plus gold certified, 50% load) that is 351 watts coming from the PSU. Your system will require a little less, but that's too close to 400 watts for comfort and good efficiency. So, in short, a 400 watt unit is not enough. You'll want a 500w unit that has two 6-pin PCIe connectors. It still should be enough for an i7 and better card in the future.
