Current rig:

i7 920 @ 3.8ghz
gigabyte udr3 sli mobo
6gb ddr3 ram
intel x-25
650w power supply silver rated (cant remember exact make, think coolermaster)
Haf 922 case

gtx275 GPU

Games- the usual suspects mostly fps cysis, bfbc2, when released bf3 crysis 2 etc. Not too worried bout metro 2033 know its a bit of a beast for any gpu to deal with.
resolution played at, as high as possible, max screen resolution 2048x1152

ok am now looking to upgrade my GPU currently looking at something around the gtx570 range but have just found a gtx480 for £200 brand new delivered where as the gtx 570 cheapest comes in at £264. I guess in theory I would be happy up to £300 but the 480 seems a great price for the power.

Is the performance difference btwn the 570 and 480 worth the extra money?
Is it worth buying a aftermarket cooler for the 480 for overclocking, heat, noise, issues etc ? if so a recommendation would be appreciated
Is there an nvidia equvilant to ati eyefinity?
And whats the score with regards to the 480 and 3d vision?

As you might tell im tending to the 480 atm as it is cheaper, but some opinions either way would help out, thanks

If I were looking at those two cards at higher resolutions such as yours, I'd go with the 570. Performance is comparable in bfbc2. Seems like there were a certain number of issues with the 480 (heat being one of them).

The Nvidia equivalent of eyefinity is called 3D Vision Surround. It supports 2d and 3d gaming and requires an SLI setup. The 480 will do 3d vision (in SLI of course), though with the heat two of these cards would generate, you might not want the SLI unless you can get some custom cooling going on the 480. Because of the issues, I'm thinking the 480s are going to be one of those cards that are hard to find in the not to distant future as well.

If you can swing it, I'd go with the 570 and SLI when the price drops in 6 months, but that is a great deal on the 480!

Thats a shame you need 2 cards for 3 screens especially having already paid for 1 expensive card, they expect you to cough up for another for a feature that comes as standard on new ati cards.

Are any of the ati cards worth considering in the high end range? I dont remember the 6950/70 getting that rave reviews when compared to 570/580
