Hi I am looking for a cheap laptop for browsing the web/wordproccessing and
running accounts

I am looking at either the dell Inspiron 2200 with Intel Celeron M 350
processor and 512 MB of Memory

or the Evesham Quest explorer with a Sempron Mobile 2600+ and 256 MB of
Memory

I would guess that the sempron processor would be more powerful but run
hotter and have a lower battery life

Thanks in advance for any advice you could give

If you want a reliable workhorse for a couple of hundred dollars, I'd
suggest the Fujitsu 600 series. They're on eBay frequently. I don't think
they will take Windows XP, but will go up to Win2000. My wife uses one for
e-mail, word-processing, and limited web browsing and loves it. These
laptops date to about 1995.

Of course, as someone pointed out on this newsgroup, you can get a new
laptop these days for $500 or 600. With XP.

Simply for support the Dell will be better long term unless you know
specifically that Eversham has similar support. IMO, YMMV
