Lg portable super multi drive install disc

I want to use my lg portable super multi drive external cd/dvd player to install so I can use it on my pc but it only clicks. I went to start, then computer and it shows two devices with removable storage (the dvd/cd burner I've attached, but it won't do anything except...make a clicking noise.

Do I need a driver or an install disc? Can I download a driver for the lg portable super multi drive?

Help! I'm trying to install a game for my husband the new microsoft flight simulator but the regular cd rom won't work so I got this external one and now can't get it to work. Thanks....julie
