New Z68 Mobo build with i7 2600K

Hi all,

With the release of Z68 mobo this week, I have finalized all my options for a new build from scratch.

I will mostly use this for video encoding and editing, file compression (Winrar), file encryption (truecrypt), HTPC, multi-tasking and some moderate gaming. I will also be using an SSD but I won't be taking advantage of the SSD caching feature. Instead, I will be using the SSD as a primary hard drive and use a HDD as a storage drive. Lastly, I will also be overclocking the CPU.

Please provide some feedback as I am a first time builder.

I have already purchased:

Corsair Graphite Series 600T Mid-Tower Case

EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Fermi 732MHZ 1280MB

I am undecided about the PSU and the hard drive. Also please comment on my choice of RAM. This is my first build so I only really focused on what would be compatible. If you think there is some way to improve this let me know.

The pre-tax total comes to ~$1830.79. I've price matched to the best of my ability with all the Canadian sites I know.

Thanks in advanced for feedback.

More about mobo build 2600k
  1. I would go with a ax750 or ax850 for the power supply and the Samsung Spinpoint for the harddrive

A 750 watt power supply is enough the RUN two 570
  2. I'd go with the Corsair 850w, you don't need 1000w.

For the work you do, I would also go with 16gb of ram (4x4GB kit).

Looks like you made some nice choices though.
  3. $80.93
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory
