Why not all ports are USB 3 on new motherboards?

I looked at latest motherboards (and laptops) and it seems that even latest models only have 1-2 USB 3 ports and the rest are still USB 2

What is the point in still providing USB 2 ports considering that USB 3 is better and fully compatible with USB 2 devices?

Well, devices like mouse and keyboard don't need to go any faster. Than u would also need to provide the drivers for the USB3 during the installation of the OS.

So the speed is not much needed, unless it is for the large data transfers.

For now its also the cost between USB2 vs USB3 : )

Good point about the drivers during OS installation, I haven't thought about it. So you generally will need 2 USB 2 connectors for desktop - one for mouse, another for keyboard. For laptops though it's all built in (keyboard and trackpad).

Regarding price - do you know this to be the case nowadays? That is USB 3 is noticeably more expensive?

If I am HW maker, and will make 1 000 000 devices with USB2 and USB3,

and the difference in the price of the USB will be 35¢ between them,

than 1 000 000 x 35¢ = $350 000. Its good to save the $350 000

Also u have USB accessories like light, ventilator, chargers,

wireless adapters and billion and half crap gadgets : )
