My sister's acer laptop went pot the blue screen of death. Then when she tried to boot it back up it went to a black screen. Can she retrieve files from the hardrive alone? Like have someone remove the hardrive (or something) and transfer the data? Or does she need the entire laptop in order to get the files back?
GradGirl - The drive can be removed and recovered, assuming that the BSOD was not caused by the heads crashing into the platters on the harddrive. Let's assume it's not, it's even something you can do yourself quite easily for about 40 dollars and some Google. Or if you know someone that can do it for you, even better. Good luck!
