XONAR XENSE vs On Board Audio Question

Hello.

I have the P67 ASROCK Extreme 4 Mother Board (http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P67%20Extre...)

and am currently using the Creative Sound Blaster Arena Headsets ($50 headset on newegg/amazon)

I mainly game, I listen to music from YouTube and sometimes iTunes but really, mainly gaming.

The sound is pretty good for games and sounds ok for music.

My question is really If I were to just purchase a nice headset like the Sennheiser PC 350s or 360s would there be any benefit without the sound card? I am not an extreme audiophile but i can tell a difference between good and bad sound.

This is the set I was looking at (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=29-132-...)

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

PC 350's more or less require a soundcard with a built in amp in order to be driven properly. The 360's don't require one [amp or soundcard], but would benifit from the presence of a soundcard.

The Xense + 350 deal is probably the best singular upgrade a user can make right now. The PC 350's are a VERY good set of headphones by themselves, and the Xense is one of the top soundcards on the market right now. Thats the setup I currently use.

Before coming to conclusions, I first recommend making sure to take a good quality source (like a CD) and get equalizer software to adjust it to your liking. Then decide if it sounds good/bad.

If you already did so, then i retract :)
