I have an HP Pavilion zt1000 series notebook, that came with Win XP Home and
unusable recovery disks (one disk is bad). Since my HD failed, I want to
install Win XP Pro on the new HD and I am looking for drivers.
Have never done this for a laptop. What do people usually do?
Is there any alternative to buying a set of recovery disks from HP,
installing the original Windows and upgrading? BTW, the HP site only has
downloads of driver updates, not the original drivers.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I've done it on ze5500. I downloaded the wlan, bios, mediadrivefirmware and
touchpad to a usb drive. Installed XP Pro and ended up only needing to use
the touchpad.exe driver I'd downloaded because XP Pro was able to make
everything else work.

Yes it was from the HP website. Go here, select the model you have then
selct XP Pro for the OS on the next screen and you should get a bunch of
drivers to select from.
