My system is:
GPU: PowerColor HD 6950 2GB(Unlocked To 6970)@ Core: 850 Memory: 1375
CPU: Phenom 9750 75w@ 2.4ghz
RAM: 4GB (2GB x 2) Micron DDR2 800
MB: MSI K9N6PGM2-V2
PSU: COOLMAX RM-1000B
HD: Seagate 1TB SATA 7200RPM 32MB

On Crysis Warhead maxed out at 1920 x1080 i get frame rate of average 20-25 lowest 10-15 max 30-35
On Fallout: New Vegas maxed out at 1920 x 1080 i get frame rate of average 30-40 lowest 20-25 max 45-50
On Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion maxed out at 1920 x 1080 i get frame rate of average 20-30 lowest 15-20 max 35-45

My temperature is
CPU: Idle: 30-35c Load: 50-55c
GPU: Idle: 35-40c Load: 60-70c

I just got the HD 6950, so I'm not sure if this is OK, good or bad FPS/Temps
Are those bad temps? is that OK frame rate? Is my new GPU being bottle necked anywhere?
Thanks for any help.

If your mobo can take it upgrade to a 955be quad , will make all the difference...today's gpu's need at least a 2.6 gh+ cpu to push them....:)

Ok, Thanks. Would an Athlon II X4 640 work? The only reason i got a GPU like that is because i sold my Xbox 360. I'm a poor man with a love of Pc's

yeah its the cpu, ddr2 800 should be fine, and I would go for the 955 over the 640, I have my 955 at 4.0 ghz at stock voltage, you will likely be able to oc the 640 as well but likely not as high, the six core is a huge waste for games right now imo, for am3 or am2+ get the 955 it is the same as the 965 970 and better when you oc it which is quite easy to do bc its unlocked, thats what id go for, it would keep up with your 6950 for sure and don't worry about the slightly older ram you are fine with that... you will gain little to no fps by upgrading to ddr3 and 4 gigs is enough for now..

Would the phenom ii 720 be enoughh to stop the bottle neck?
I need to know quick because I might be trading my cfw psp for one and a bunch of pc fans/heatsinks.
If I trade I will be doing it tomorrow

yeah the triple core would be a lot better but in some games that demand a fast quad you will still see a bottleneck, but the phenom ii 720 would def be an upgrade from what you got, I would say at least get the triple core, your best bet is to get the amd phenom ii x4 955 like I said above

Unless you buy the really expensive low latency DDR3 it's not really any better than DDR2, that's not the issue. Your max frames should be much higher than that even if you are bottlenecked by the CPU. Did you try any of these games out before flashing the card to a a 6970?
