im trying to upgrade my ram and im wondering if i can replace 2 1G sticks on this mother board.(1st link)

Its 667MHz and u can use 800MHz.

Well, if u think u will get it for under $50, take it.

It still going to work.

DDR2 is much more expensive than DDR3.

At this point get the cheapest u can get, the difference is next to nothing.

Before u spend any money, for $350 u can build yourself 4 times faster PC.

So think first what u might need, because fixing old PC could get expensive : )

It really doesn't matter, even going from DDR2 800 to DDR3 2100 is only a 10 nano second difference. I also saw a benchmark I think at anandtech where they did a speed comparison and the difference from the bottom to the top was 0.35 fps...

But me personally if the difference was within 10 bucks, id grab the 800mhz one.

It will not make the PC faster - RAM doesn't do that, but the system will not choke that much, when u are multitasking.

Yup easy way to tell is to open up task manager and monitor how much ram you are using throughout the day.

Yes ^ and 2 GB RAM is really bellow the minimum that I would like to be.

XP runs way faster and smoother, when at least 4GB are present.
