Odd ram configuration

hello everyone i have a question about my ram setup. i currently have 5 gigs total. 3 1 gig sticks (2 made by crucial, 1 is the dominator series) and 1 crucial 2 gig stick

i have a ta790gx 128m motherboard.

is this a bad thing to have? i know matching sticks is best but i got these sticks for free.

  1. It's not ideal. As you stated, you want to have matched pairs (or quads) to insure dual channel and all that.
But really, if you're getting your proper 667/800/1066MHz speed, and you're trying to stay on a super tight budget, then you're fine. Dual channel vs single only gives you 7-10% performance bump in real world experience (if you're lucky).
If you have the money, do it right. But if you're on a super tight budget, it's working stable for you, don't fret. It's fine.

Complete tangent; make sure you're using a 64bit OS. :)

:pfff: I wish there was some kind of technology so you could see these double posts ahead of time. Yea I could go the stalker route and use the "read all of user's posts" route, but I don't have that kind of time! :)

Read the other thread, good feedback photonboy.
