Core i5 2400&6870 (or) phenom II x4 965&6950 1 GB?

Which one would be a better choice for gaming @ 1920X1080? Core i5 2400/HD 6870 (overclocked) or Phenom II X4 965/HD 6950 1 GB?

Presented with only those choices, I'd start with the Intel platform. It's just better all the way around. It's not the best video card option, but you can always upgrade your video later.

Also, I don't know how strict your budget is, but for only $30 more you can get an unlocked i5-2500k.
  2. Go with Intel. My factory overclocked 6850 could play most games at high to ultra settings. That Intel platform would serve you longer.
  3. its really a no brainer, the intel platform is a much better choice, get the i5-2500k like ubercake said, what is your monitors resolution?

1920X1080.... aren't games more dependent on the gpu than cpu at that resolution??

Yes they are to an extent but the Intel chip is the better chip anyway as far as gaming goes regardless of resolution.

    Mactronix :)
