Can my asrock 970 extreme 3 run sli?

I am pretty sure you guys will tell me know because its an am3+ motherboard that specifically states it supports multi gpu config for crossfire and says nothing about sli.

I believe they would have advertised it if it could.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can't do SLI. Has to be Crossfire.

what most people do not understand about the new 900 series northbridge chipset by amd, is that it does infact support SLI. so yes, you can run a SLI setup with this motherboard, though the 970 series of the chipset will only support one 16x and one 4x lane, so one of the cards you will use in your SLI setup will not be running at its full potential.

I knew the 990 chipsets could run SLI, but not the 970

I have the 970 Extreme 4 which runs SLI or Crossfire, the SLI will run x8/x8 and there is a third slot which is x4.

Yes you need to get an Extreme 4 to do SLI
