What's This Strange Cable?

What the hell is this thing? Found it in my stockpile of ancient hardware, right at the bottom. It looks like some kind of old USB serial cable or something. Also I remember an old Gravis game pad I had that had a similar connector to this.

That looks like a USB to Serial (game port) connector to me.

Gravis made game pads so its likely a Serial to USB adapter to allow the usage of the older pads on newer machines.
