If price was not an issue which should I get for 3d gaming?

Obviously the alienware is superior because it has 1080p support and runs 1920res where as that's not the case with the syncmaster.
But the lower res means better fps.
My concern is two points; one is how much would performance change between the two,
And because the screen sizes are only 1" different, I am concerned that the graphics on the syncmaster would be worse than on the alienware monitor.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

The Dell/Alienware one is significantly better.

Performance... well, depends entirely on what your system specs are.

560ti single and Piix4 955.
I know the Dell is superior, but is it worth the 1080p output, when the physical difference in size is just 1"? Is it worth going from 1680 to 1920?
If it is pretty much indifferent I was thinking of going with the syncmaster.

The lower resolution monitor will give you better performance.

The higher resolution monitor will let you see more on the screen in and outside of games.

jaguarskx, I know that, but because the difference in size between the two is only an inch, I'm really doubtful about game view width. I am concerned if the 1080p output on the Alienware WILL make a huge difference in the graphical presentation if, for example, I play Crysis? Basically I don't want to notice pixels on the screens because I chose the syncmaster, even if I put AA to max.

The main difference will be the horizontal distance... 1920 vs 1680... but vertically it won't change much, 1080 vs 1050.

Given that you have a single 560 and want to do 3D gaming, I'd say for best results just go with the Samsung.

EDIT: My bad... switched vert and horizontal descriptions...

Personally I like gaming at 16x10 better than 16x9. You will find that the 22" screen is actually taller than the 23" screen thats 1080p, so what you gain is just width, and I think it's a little distracting to have stuff that far in my periferal vision. With 3d vision you will have trouble maxing out games with a single 560 on a 1080p screen. I run 2 465s in SLI on one of the early viewsonic 1680x1050 3d monitors and it's just about right. I can max out everything and still play in 3d at close to 60 fps, Crysis I get between 30 and 40 with shadows off (they don't render right in stereoscopic) and everything else maxed.

If you plan on playing blu-ray 3d movies you will want the 1080p one for sure though.

I think your mixing up horizontal and vertical Wolfram.

I see, I'll stick with the samsung then.
