Recommendation on new laptop

So I am in the market for a new laptop now, with a flexible budget but preferably around $700-$800. Its going to be used for powerpoints and excel, and I usually have very large powerpoints and spreadsheets. So far i'm trying to decide between an i5 with discrete graphics or an AMD A8. Also keep in mind that I am also going to be using this for light gaming (nothing major, I have my desktop for that) and lots of HD videos on YouTube as this isn't just a dedicated work laptop.

is battery life an important requirement?

or is it going to be plugged in the mains mostly?

acer aspire timeline x series i5 have really good battery life

Battery life is important but not the main focus. Id rather have performance over battery life or someway between. And are you sure the i5's are the best choice for my uses? Not Fusion apus?
