Mobo suggestions for a new build?

Hello,

I'm starting to put together some ideas for a new build and while most decisions have been pretty easy to make, there are so many different kinds of motherboards out there that it makes it hard to figure out which one is the best for my needs.

I'm considering an i5-2500k (or ivy bridge equivalent) for the CPU and probably a Radeon 7870 for the GPU.

I may stick with a Sandy Bridge CPU, and if so, then I'd probably get a P68 motherboard. Otherwise, I'd consider a Z77. I'd like to not spend more than $200-250 for the board, and wouldn't mind going a little cheaper if it works for me. However, the most important thing for me is reliability (I've read too many reviews of people that have had to RMA their motherboards). Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  2. If reliability is what your concerned with, Tom's recently did a system build based on newegg's buyer feedback. You can see that article here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/newegg-pc-benchmark-review,3165.html

This is the motherboard that they chose: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121533&Tpk=DZ68BC
  3. Excellent, thanks for the responses. I only was thinking about the p68 board if I decide to stick with Sandy Bridge. Also I wasn't sure how much better the z77 features were (i.e. PCI 3, etc.). But maybe I should just get a z77 board?
