Hey everyone, I recently just bought an HD 4870 by Visiontek along with a lsp550 power supply from amazon. The psu is made by Ultra and unfortunately I bought it in a rush, so I didn't get a chance to read reviews and soon realized that a couple of people on certain forums have said it's pretty bad. However, there were also people that have said it was good, so I don't really know who to believe. Does this thing even have enough power to run my pc?

My Specs:
Visiontek 4870 1GB
Q6600
3GB RAM
Hitachi DVD drive (standard)
500 GB sata hard drive

I'm also on a pretty tight budget so the low price got to me. Fortunately, it just shipped so I can actually still send it back If I need to. I read the specs of the PSU and it says 30A on the +12v Rail. Is that enough, or will I have to change power supplies if I ever upgrade my video card? Also, according to ATI's website, at least a 500w psu is recommended for the 4870 but people say that this psu can't even pull off 400w. I really hope that this isn't the case. Any one have any experiences with the lsp550 or Ultra products in general?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

well the people who said that PSU is "good" are pulling your leg, its not. luckily the 4870 in a PC won't even break 300w total system power at load. I would say its OK to use that PSU but start saving for a decent 500w from antec, ocz, or corsair. The longer you use that PSU, the more you are pushing your luck.

Thanks for replying so fast. So what would you recommend? Should I send it back, or keep it? It also does come with a Lifetime warranty. Unfortunately that doesn't seem like it would save me if the PSU blew and took my other parts with it.
