Nvidia Geforce Gts 450 Over HD 4870?

you MONITOR resolution?????

You can go for ATI HD4870 its having higher performance compared to GTS 450, let me make it clear i am not having an idea about both Prices...

U have given a basic resolution 1024*768... Running in given resolution u can have GTS 450 its good enough, but for higher resolution its better to go for ATI 4870....

my max monitor resolution is 1024x768,will directx11 bring enough things over hd 4870?

at 1024X 768 you need a better cpu than a GPU, so a GTS 450 is good, but a 5770 is better.
maybe you should get a better cpu before considering however.....
also a 4870 doesnt support dx11

well i just want to max out any game at 1024x768.dont care much about directx11.

Hi U can also consider Radeon HD 6850 its also good but its New one and it support DX11..or another one is Radeon HD 5770 almost have same performance with HD4870

A Radeon 6850 typically costs $60 more than a 4870--but it is newer and does DX11. I really think a 5770 would be a better buy if cost is an issue. Also, I'm not sure that his CPU can handle more than a 5770 at stock speeds.

What is your current graphics card? If you have a GTS 250/9800GT or so, you won't see much, if any, improvement.

I really think you should look into upgrading your monitor first. 22" 1920x1080 monitors are the standard nowadays and are a pretty good price. Such a monitor would work for you for several years too--longer than that computer or a graphics card.
