I want to buy an ASRock X79 Extreme 4 motherboard and use it with Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz CPU.

I have read on comments on various online shops that certain BIOS versions may not work and you may need to do an upgrade.

I have never done a BIOS upgrade and all guides I found mention floppy disks.

Is it possible to do it some other way from CD or USB stick ?
Is there a step by step beginner guide ?

Please let me know.
Thank you.

You can upgrade the bios through USB. There should be multiple guides @ the manufacturer website to show you how.

Yes , the USB thing worked like a charm.
Went step by step just like the official guide.
Guess i wasn't sure if FAT32 was the appropriate format , since a lot of guides make reference to floppy disks.
