I have a core i7 870 coupled with a gtx 275 and while playing battlefield bad company 2 I get a solid 50+ fps with it off.Turning tHBAO on causes a 10 fps hit.so is it better to play with HBAO on and 2XAA or with HBAO off 16XAA?I just want peoples' opinoun on the matter :)

well. All I noticed was that it made some textures darker and in houses it made the corners really dark

well that's what AO do. they play around with the light and shadows to give you depth perception on objects in game

but the performance hit is very huge.Even going form 2XAA to16XAA had a less performance hit.I can't decide whether to go 16XAA and no HBAO or 2XAA and hbao on

10FPS is big? btw i think you should go for which ever that your eyes like the most :D  . but if you don't like the frame rates you get from it you'll have to tweak the setting yourself to get the perfect balance for you. i played BFBC2 but i can hardly notice the difference having HBAO turn off or on when playing the games. so turn off the feature is the most logical to me if i want more performance. but i'd just leave it on since my performance still acceptable even with HBAO got turn on :D

i think average around mid 30s. dx11, all setting on high. 16 AF, 8x AA, HBAO turn on and v-sync turn off. resolution is 1600x900. i think i should have better performance if i got better cpu...?

yeah your cpu is HEAVILY bottlenecking you in the game.I get the same performance as you on 1680X1050 with 16XAA and HBAO on with my i7 870 annd gtx 275 but for some weird reason the game feels laggy on my pc in mid 30s.
