Nvidia 6600gt lag hd videos

Hi everybody,

I've just bought an nvidia 6600 gt, every game i play runs fine except when i play hd videos, it lags a lot.http://img.tomshardware.com/forum/uk/icones/smilies/sweat.gif

Could you please help me if possible??

The NVIDIA 6600 gt, is an old card, and it should have problems dealing with hd video.
Also you can play only old games, or new games in low specs.
You should get a new gpu.

Thank you for your reply, respected friend, but i have upgraded from an Nvidia Fx 5200 but let me tell you with this card which is only 128 mb, I could watch 720p smoothly but not with the current one (Nvidia 6600gt 512mb 128 bit)..
Maybe Is there something wrong with the driver i'm using or is there some setting wrong because i can play left for dead easily with medium settings on 1280*720..
It's only with the HD video that i'm getting problems (lags a lot).

Lag normally occurs because the cpu or gpu can't handle it. The 6600 should be more then capable of supporting that resolution of video, as well as your cpu.
With youtube releated video's, 1080p clips do need a higher end cpu, a 2.4GHz dual core or better should be fine though.

What's your cpu, and are you watching video's online, through windows media/Divx?

No sir, i've just been watching 720p videos in mkv and mp4, that's all and my previous fx 5200 would play it way better than the 6600 gt.

And my cpu is an amd sempron 2800+, 1 Gb ram, 160 Gb hard disk.
