We have a workhorse computer at our shop that is a Dell Precision Workstation 650. The motherboard supports two CPU's, but has only one installed. In hopes of bumping up speeds we would like to add in a second CPU or even two new ones if need be.
From what I can find out searching online this is a F1262 motherboard with socket 478.
The current CPU is a Intel Xeon 2.4GHz.
I'm looking for recommendations on CPU upgrade for this machine.

Are you sure it's socket 478 (single processor) and not socket 604 (dual processor)? If socket 604, then this would be the fastest processor:

Spending $100 for 2 Xeon 3.20 GHz processors might be a good investment, but that workstation is rather slow when compared to current workstations.
