Need help picking a CPU

Hey,

I am currently planning on building a PC, and the CPU choice is between Intel® Core™ i7-870 Processor and Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor.

Suggestions?

Well that's a no brainer, the 2600 is more powerful period. But more importantly what is your budget for the whole build and computer uses?

The price was the same in the store, but I actually found the 2600k for a cheaper price. Strange, but at the cpu benchmarks the 2600k seems pretty strong. I think I'll be going for that one.

Is it for gaming or for other uses, like 3D modeling? If the answer is gaming, get the 2500K. It performs the same in games (hyper-threading doesn't help, since current games don't use more than 3 cores) and costs a bunch less. Overclock it, of course.
What kind of graphics hardware are you thinking of?
