Building my first gaming PC.

Hi I am very interested in trying to build my first gaming pc. I have no experience in building pcs whatsoever. The reason I am making the decision to build one is to save a little money without sacrificing performance.
My target budget is roughly $800-$900. I would mostly be using this computer for playing WoW, a little video editing, and school work. (but mostly WoW ^^ ) I would love to be able to play on high settings, if not ultra.
I need all computer parts other than a monitor ( I have a 20" monitor I plan on using for the next few months till I can upgrade to a better one). I will also need an OS (windows 7 64bit pref.).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Sorry for not filling out the correct form... I was just introduced to this site literally 30mins before posting. Thanks for all the help! =)

Approximate Purchase Date: This week.

Budget Range:$700 - $900 (give or take)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (mostly WoW), slight video editing, homework etc.

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, tigerdirect

Parts Preferences: Would love an intel core i5, and a Nvidia GeForce GTX460 or higher if it can fit my budget. (pref something nvidia unless something is better for the price). Also windows 7 64bit.

Overclocking: Not sure if i want to mess with that...

SLI or Crossfire: ?

Monitor Resolution:1920 x 1080

Additional Comments: Basically a nice PC to run WoW. (Best PC for my price range $700-$900 pref around $800). Was originally just going to buy alienware aurora pc till I was convinced to build a pc for cheaper. Since im not going to buy the alienware anymore... I dont want to spend $1100 ^^ Link to the alienware:

It won't handle high end games that's for sure. And for $800 you would be better off just...
