Hi, i feel i'm getting strange FPS with Fraps playing Metro 2033, my specs are

Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.6
4G DDR3 1600Mhz
Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 @ 895Mhz Core, 1300Mhz Mem
600W PSU

i'm playing @ 1440x900, Hight Settings, AAA, 4XAF, and i'm getting around 65-85 FPS, which is so high, and i'm wondering is that right for my specs!!!!! also the game is not that smooth all the time which is wierd with that FPS's if its true :)  ?!

Thanks.

Without a REALLY good GPU, a game like Metro 2033 will occasionally dip in performance.

At a low resolution like 1440x900, the 5770 might be able to pull off Metro 2033 respectably. I don't think your results sound too strange. What's your AA level though? If you're playing at lower than 8x, that might explain why it's playing well.

metro 2033 unlike other games feels weird above 45 fps whereas it feels as smooth as silk on 30-45 fps.I played metro 2033 all high dx 10 1680X1050 with 30-45 fps and it was as smooth as silk.THowever the moment it went above 45 then the image would start jerking like there were frame skips

I wonder if that's screen tearing from refresh rate interference. In a lot of cases, I find Vsync helps. I personally think even 30fps looks good when Vsync'd. And it'll go to 60, 30, or 15 if you turn it on.

If you want to force vsync download rivatuner install it then start d3doverrider and select the game executable and click on turn on vsync and turn on triple buffering.I forced vsync in the game in this way

i well, i forgot to mention that i play in dx11, and i also tried Call of Duty Black Ops and i'm getting above 60 with 4xAA, and in metro i'm using AAA, well i'm gonna try MSAA 4X, any way if its around 40's it should feel smoother than before, right?!

well, without doing anything, in another level the fps dropped to 31-37 fps, i guess it was about the episode i were in, or fraps wasnt workin well :)

What did you get in the scene where you first go outside? The battle was extremely laggy for me at 1400x900 with 4xAA. Otherwise, it works pretty well, even with fraps running I got around 28-35 myself except for the few area's that b og down considerably.

Interior Scenes have less for the graphics to generate because the walls and corridors are pretty simple boxes and you can't see beyond. When you go "outside" there is an open scene with a lot more going on--a lot more to generate with buildings, trees, and a scene that can fit more characters.

This is generally true for all games.

65-85 fps on highest settings in DX11 in Metro 2033 with a single 5770?

Yea and I'm Eminem the great white rapper.

I get ~ 30fps with an unlocked 6950 @ 1920x1080 resolution with the same exact settings (DX11 Highest settings AAA). A 6950 (which is a 10x better GPU than yours) couldn't even get that frame rate with the same settings. Nice lie.

Please explain to me how a GTX 580 couldn't reach your frame rates in 1024x768 resolution but a 5770 could get even higher at a 1440x900 resolution.

ps: I am raging like hell.

Cool story, just like the lie that your card is somehow 10x better then a 5770.

Someone's upset about the truth. If you think a single 5770 is any good, you are sadly mistaken. You can't max out many games on highest detail at 1920x1080 resolution.

And yes, my unlocked 6950 (6970) is 10x (maybe even more) better than your crap 5770.

You are extremely wrong.Your 6950 is around 40% faster than the 5770 but the difference is not astronomically high. When you say you gpu is 10x powerful its like comparing the 8800GT with the gtx 580.Heres the proof to back it up.40% is not astronomically high.

oh and by the way who says the 5770 wont max any game at 1080p.I own a gtx 275 and on 1080p I max out every game out there except for metro 2033 and crysis.Hell,I even play crysis at near max with2XAA and shaders at high the rest is max.I play metro 2033 at high. Now please explain t me that how can a gpu which plays both these games at max or near max be crap?you need to cool down with all the bashing.A gpu which is 10 times faster than 5770 does not exist.

If speaking the truth is bashing than I guess I'm bashing. To say that he is playing Metro 2033 @ 1440x900 resolution with DX11 on Maxed settings AND 4xMSAA @ 60+fps is complete bs and all I'm doing is calling him out on it.

Saying the 6950 is 10x better than the 5770 was clearly a figure of speech. You just got upset because the card I was 'bashing' happened to be the same card that you own.

Learn to read before replying. He said he owned an Nvidia 275, which is a completely different brand from AMD cards. You did bash the card by saying, "your crap 5770." That's bashing, along with flaming. The card itself is a decent mid gaming card, there's a difference between saying your card is simply better than calling a previous generation crap when it wasn't and still isn't.
