What make/model of motherboard are you using? This is needed to determine the types of video card that are compatible with your system (AGP, PCI, or PCI-E).

Also, what is your budget and what sorts of things do you plan to do with your system (gaming, development, etc)?

Last, it would also be helpful to know the basic specifications of your overall system. Please clarify. Good luck!

Thanks COLGeek,
I have A Microsoft ft xp home
AMD Athlon 64x2 Duel Core 3800+
1.9GB
Matrox MilleniumG200 PCI-English (this is what sucks)

On the slot not in use, it says "PCI-E X16
I have found (through help of someone here) the
ATI Radeon HD5670 512 mb
It seems to be the most power without use of AUX Power,, thats what i hope to use,,, (i guess)
Thanks for helping a noob !  ,,,,, Tony

Should be fine as long as you have a standard size case. Be sure to remove the Matrox when you install the HD5670. Also, go to www.ati.com and get the current drivers for the HD5670 and save to your desktop to have when your new video card arrives. The ones that come with the video card will be dated.

Good luck!

One more question-
Should I use the same slot as the Matrox is in or does it matter,,And should i go to ati.com for the current drivers before i take the old one out?

Is this an easy task? i dont want to loose my data,, i see it come with a disc

ps, i see now to do the driver thing beforehand...
I sure am better at demolition than i am at assembly,,,

The Matrox you described is in a PCI type slot. The HD5670 will go into the vacant PCI-E x16 slot you indicated having earlier. Easy as pie and you won't lose anything adding the new video card. Very straight forward process.

Well i did order it today,, then i saw that it was the 1GB , instead of the 512MB,
Is that better , will it run hotter ?  :D

Won't run hotter and will give you better performance with some games. Better to have more memory than too little.
