This is my motherboard

click to make big

Here is my problem. I have two PCIe x1 slots. My graphics card, which is in the PCIe x16 slot, takes up one of the x1 slots. The one remaining x1 slot has a big ass heat sink right in front of it. This leaves me with no where to put my sound card. The sound card will not fit in the x1 slot because of the heat sink. Can a x1 card be used in my PCIe x4 slot? What is the best way to go about this?

Yeah, just go ahead and put it in one of the free/unobstructed PCIe slots. It'll work with no problem, and it'll still run at x1, of course.
