I recently built a new pc.

cpu-i7 2600 k 3.4
mobo-asus p8p67 deluxe
psu- enermax revolutions 85+ 920W
hdd- wd 1T, 64MB, 7K
cd- light on 24x light scribe
cooling- Antec Kuhler H2O 620
case- CM 690II
memory- corsair vengeance 2x 4GB 1600MHz
fans- Gelid 120mm and 140mm.
When I start it up I get a "no physical disk detected" flashed on screen before it starts but then it works fine.
Did I perhaps hook something up wrong? Everything seems good other than I might have to tweek the trc number on my memory.

Solution
your hdd should be plugged into an intel sata port (which i believe is labeled in your mobo manual), and there should be no effect on data rate. if youre worried, id just give asus tech support a call and ask.

if i recall correctly, this problem is related to the marvell controller. try going into your bios and disabling marvell ide. you may also have to disable unused sata ports (you can always enable them later if you get a new drive)

I told her not to load that drive but it was recommended to do so so she did. I had read about the marvell controller. I don't see that disable option in the ez or advanced mode.

I disabled it. I started to get double starts but it seems to have stopped that now and starts up normally. I don't see that "no disk found" prompt now. This wont affect the data rate or anything , right?
