Interested in gaming

I came to this forum so I could learn how to build my htpc. I was not really interested in gaming before but after browsing this forum im now interested in getting into gaming for my son and I. Where can I go to get the 101 on pc gaming? where do my gpu stand in the gaming world? I have the xfx radeon hd5770. I listed all my hardware under my signature but im not seeing the full listing. my monitor is the sony kdl-40z4100 hd tv with 1080p, 120hz. I have a raidmax 730watt psu, 8gb ram, amd phll x4 955 3.2ghz

Between your cpu and the 5770, you should be able to run most any game just fine between 1440x900 and 1920x1080 with high details. You still have to factor in ram, etc. Depending on what OS you are running (Xp-Win 7, 32-bit to 64-bit), 2-4 GB of system ram will get you by fine. Considering you are using 8GB of ram, you will have no problems.

I am not liking that raidmax PSU. I had one, it died taking my $200 motherboard with it..

Yeah Raidmax isn't great but I ran one for 3yrs on a highly overclocked C2D system and sold it and the case to someone else who is still using it, so, you never know.

Your pc is good enough for most games up to 1680x1050.

this is very good to know my system is game ready. first I would need a controller. who makes decent controller and where is a good place to buy pc games?
I bought the psu at newegg. A lot of people bought it and it have good reviews
