Asrock P67 Extreme 4 Gen3 Code 53

Just got this board and I really want it to work.

ASRock P67 Extreme 4 Gen3 1155
Intel i7 2600K
Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX RAM (4 gig sticks x4)

I tried installing with Corsair 8GB modules and kept getting Dr. Debug code 53. I checked the compatibility list and swapped the Corsair for Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX which is definitely on the compatibility list.

I've tried every combination of memory slots with multiple and single memory sticks. I get code 53 every time. Even with no RAM installed.

I've unplugged everything but PSU, CPU and fan and tried every memory configuration... still code 53.

I've tried six brand new memory sticks and none of them seem to work with the board.

any ideas? Do I have a bad motherboard?

"Error code 0x53: Memory initialization error. No usable memory detected."

Why would ASRock post Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX memory as compatible if the motherboard won't detect it?

And since it won't detect it, does that mean there's something wrong with the memory or the motherboard?

It might be possible MOBO is faulty.

I called ASRock and they thought the memory slots might be bad. I returned the mobo, got a new one and it booted beautifully.
