Hello,

Looking for recommended processors, motherboards, hard drive, and cases for an HTPC build.
- Uses:
-- Watching movies/YouTube, web surfing, and HD video (Adobe Premier Elements) and audio editing (Reaper, Ableton Live, Audacity); no need for gaming or for TV tuner
-- Main monitor will be a glass 19" w/1920x1440 resolution, and also want to hook up any 1080p TV as the second display
-- OS: Planning on using Vista, but could be swayed to go w/Win 7 if that’s more cost effective, or if Vista won’t support hardware (I prefer Vista, though)
- Processor/mother board:
-- Looking for max bang for the buck in Intel with quad-core and integrated graphics; would prefer not to have to get a discrete card, but will if necessary
-- Needs VGA out and HDMI out
-- USB 3 would be a plus
-- Memory recommendations to go with the motherboard/processor are welcome, too
-- Integrated WiFi would be nice; if not on motherboard, then also looking for recommendations for a WiFi NIC
- Hard Drive
-- 750mb - 1 tb; prefer 7500rpm (max bang for buck, with performance a priority over total storage
- Case
-- Looking to play DVDs and blu-ray on it, so the case will need an opening for an optical drive--rather not have to open a door to get to it
-- Built-in front-mounted memory card reader, I/O ports, and media display (song name, artist, etc.) , and remote-friendly; also looking to go as quiet as possible within budget
-- Prefer space for 2 more hard drives some day
-- Would like case as small as possible; would not mind external power supply, if it could be powerful enough for system requirements

Anything else I should be thinking about?

processor: Intel i5-2500k
Mobo - something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
HDD - Samsung F3 or WD Black 1tb.
Most any decent wireless nic will work, Something like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I used this case and theres room for a second HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

There are plenty of card readers everywhere to add in. You can search on those.

Appreciate the quick response.

WINTEC One 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model

Would this memory work? Would I need more, or is this overkill?

Anyone have experience with the cases with built-in media displays? I'm thinking the LCD touch panels are overkill, but something that will at least show basic media info would be cool. Or is it better to add that in the 3.5" bay?
