If you're just thinking about a small, stock HSF overclock, I would just get the 2400 and not overclock at all (save a few bucks).
You'll want this mobo for crossfire

For gaming 4GB is fine, it doesn't matter too much which of those sets you choose.

thnx 4 ur input....

how big is the actual difference, frame rate wise, between running 1 card at 16x other at 4X as compared to running both at 8X, which is what this mobo will do i suppose...?

Like what jbaker said 4gb is fine, but theres been a very nice drop in price for Memory as a whole. People just grab the 8GB.

If you are getting that CM 212 Plus cooler might as well get the K series and juice it out.

For the case I suggest

I don't know if they sell that in India, but it is the best mid-tower I worked with in that 50dollar price range.

unfortunately, BitFenix Shinobi is not available here....

Have finalized these:
Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge
Asus P8P67 PRO B3 Revision Motherboard
Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance (4GB x2)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Coolermaster RC-430-KWN1 Chassis

Is this config good enuf???

Looks good.
I like these cases better tho
Antec 300 / Thermaltake v5 / CM haf 912

Just how much of a bottleneck will my GPU be after i upgrade?

Reply to dna316

the 4870 performs similar to a 5770 / 6770.
a 2500K would be bottle necked by anything less than a HD6950 / GTX 560Ti imo
which would compliment that CPU well.

The only difference I see between the two RAM sets you were considering is:
http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php [...] &Itemid=53
Is one 4GB stick, while the other is two 2GB sticks. (Strangely it's the opposite of what the pictures show...) I would get the 2x2GB set, and yes for those games 4GB should be fine. What resolution do you plan to use? I don't see a graphics card in that list, do you already have one?

Edit: typo

- reuse your memory to save cash.
http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php [...] &Itemid=53
AMD Athlon II X3 440 Rs. 3,450.00

http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php [...] &Itemid=53
Biostar TA790GXE 128M Motherboard Rs. 5,100.00 crossfire, ddr2 memory.

http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php [...] &Itemid=53
no crossfire, ddr2 board, Biostar A780L Rs. 2,700.00

http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php [...] &Itemid=53
Asus hd 5870, Rs. 12,750.00 Its a 1600 shader card, maybe ditching crossfire is cheaper?

The sandybridge i5/i7 quad seems expensive there.

^ Yes, but that 440 wouldn't be a huge upgrade over the C2D. I think we need a budget to narrow down the options some more.

@OP:whats your budget.?
Also why you are going for P67 mobo while you are thinking of i5 2400...IMO H67 makes more sense here.
If you are going to overclock then go for i5 2500k+P67 mobo that will be great.

I hope to Oc upto 4Ghtz using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus... can i do that?

M thinking of:
Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge
Asus P8P67 PRO B3 Revision Motherboard
Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance (4GB x2)
Coolermaster RC-430-KWN1 Chassis
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

Is that good enuf, keeping in mind that i only upgrade once every 3-4 years !!!

and just how much of a bottleneck will my GPU be after i upgrade?

Is 4Gb enuf of should i go for 8GB?

Yeah you should be able to OC to 4Ghz easily, I think you can get it to 4.3 or 4.4 just using the multiplier!

4GB is enough in my opinion. Check this out:

Do you have a 64 bit OS at the moment?

It's difficult to tell how much of a bottleneck it'll create. The 4870 isn't even on the latest graphics charts on Tom's Hardware, so it'll be a pretty huge difference between that and say a 5850 or 6850 etc...

i plan to install the 64 bit Windows 7 in the upgraded system....

ok... but what if i CF the 4870 with a another 4870 or a 4890? will it still bottleneck my system?

Help !!!

CM Hyper 212 plus is not in stock anymore....

Which one should i go for out of these:
Corsair A70
Coolermaster Hyper N520 CPU cooler
Coolermaster Hyper N620 CPU cooler
Coolermaster Hyper TX3 CPU cooler
Coolermaster Vortex Plus CPU cooler

Those who are unfamiliar with the Corsair Vengeance RAM, the heat sinks on them are quite large and intrusive, making it a pain when choosing an after-market CPU cooler. To those who have over come this similar issue, or anyone with advice for that matter, could you recommend a CPU cooler which won't be obstructed by the Vengeance modules from above?
