Hello all,

I'm pretty new when it comes to computers and their many parts, so please bear with me. Recently my computer was randomly shutting off when I was playing WoW for extended periods. When I took off the side of my case to investigate inside my video card was super warm and the fan on it is not spinning on its own. If I manually start it, or sometimes shut off my system and then again manually touch the fan on the card it works but it's very hit and miss.

My computer:

HP Pavillion Elite 9227 c-b

Processor and Memory:
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor 2.5 GHz (6 MB L2 cache)
8 GB (shared) DDR3 SDRAM

Drives:
1 TB (1,000 GB) Serial ATA, 7200 rpm
Blu-ray player
LightScribe CD-RW\DVD±RW SuperMulti drive
15-in-1 card reader

Display and Graphics:
HP 2709m 27-in. HD LCD display with BrightView™ technology (1080p)
30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
1 GB (dedicated) ATI™ Radeon™ HD 4650 graphics
Audio:

Integrated audio with 8-channel audio support
External ports: Line-in, line-out, microphone, and speakers
Communication:

10/100/1000 integrated Gigabit LAN
Integrated wireless LAN, 802.11a/b/g/n

Ports:
7 USB 2.0 ports (3 front, 4 back)
RJ45 Ethernet
DVI – available via graphics card
HDMI™ – available via graphics card
VGA out – available via graphics card
Operating System:

Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium-64 bit
Additional Software:

Sooooo basically, I have a limited choice of a new video card/power supplies by where I live. I can get:

ATI Radeon HD5750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-E

or

ATI Radeon HD5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-E

And a various wattage of power supplies since mine is 300w and apparently will not run either of those cards. Looking for any info, or pointers as to whether either of those are decent enough to run WoW without my computer shutting itself off constantly.

Thank you all in advance for any help!

any solid 400w+ with 30a on its 12v rail willbe able to run either card. look for brand names like antec, ocz, corsair, xigmatek, enermax, silverstone, seasonic

don't fall for a cheap 400w PSU. an easy sign is they will place all their amps on the 3.3 & 5v while leaving few on the 12v.
