Whats wrong with 9800GT?

I bought XFX 9800gt and recently have following problem:

When I trying to play any game I get black screen when game starts or freezing in main menu. Sometimes I get blue screen saying "Hardware Malfuction" or computer just restarts. However I put my old 7600GS and I havn't got this problem. I am asking is it wrong with PSU or Graphic card.

My current PSU is ATX "shitty one" its about 6 months old. My GPU temperature 70-85C in games and 60-70C
normal.

My specs are:

Intel Pentium 4 3.20Ghz 2 cores
2GB Ram
9800GT
Windows 7


Newest drivers instaled and direct also.

But it used to work ok. Is it possible that voltage fell down?

well it used to but now it is not. that is what you can expect from generic PSU. PSU with good quality build normally will last for several years before starts to fail. btw when you said "60c-70c normal", is that your idle temp?

2 problems here- one your "shitty atx psu"= which needs replacement by a trusted brand.
And your temps, which are way higher than they should be.

8800/9800Gt always ran hot, his temps are normal for that card

60c - 70c @ idle are not normal for 8800/9800GT's or any card for that matter.

@OP, is it a new card or a 'previously enjoyed' item?

Mine idle @ 39c and 43c respectively and that's only a few degrees less than they did with the original single slot HSF's on.

@op you say it used to work, yes but that was with a much lower power vid card. get a good 450-500w unit from antec, seasonic, corsair, silverstone, ocz.
