I'm looking at a board with 6 SATA 2.0 ports and 6 SATA hard drives supported and 6x SATA2 (3Gbps) now I have SATA 3 SSD and SAS that are 6Gbps, will it work on this?

6 Sata 2.0 ports? Do you mean USB 2.0 ports?

If you have 6 sata II connectors on the motherboard and 6 sata hard drives you are good so far. You can use the SSD with the Sata I Sata II or Sata III ports but you will only get the speed of the slowest connection. (1.5Gb/s Sata I - 3.0Gb/s Sata II or 6.0Gb/s with the Sata III). The connectors are backwards compatible so they will work but only at the rated speed. So if you have any Sata III, 6 Gb/s connectors use the SSD on one of those.

The SAS drive will only work if your motherboard has an on board sas chip - most don't except a couple of asus 1366 boards - but it definitely will not work in a Sata port. Or you can buy a pci-e raid card and connect the SAS up to that.

Give us the name and model of the mobo and we can be more specific if need be.
