It's for a non gaming rig that will be in a non air conditioned room. Thanks in advance for any help, this is the last purchase before I finally put the computer together.

IMO, a bottom PSU is better.
Fresh air is taken directly from outside the case, usually from the bottom of it (good cases also come with a filter to avoid dust going into the PSU).
In top PSU cases, the air passing through the PSU is already hot as it is taken from inside (usually just above the CPU), meaning the PSU fan has to exhaust more heat which is noisier.

Anyway, the best rated cases on the web have their PSU on bottom, so there must be a reason :) ...

Thanks for the info, PSU on bottom it will be!

Bottom mounted cases also allow for top mounted fans so you have the option for a lot more fans in a case by moving the PSU to the bottom. It also shifts the center of gravity much lower which is helpful in tall cases as it can make them more stable.

Bottom mounted PSU is much neater as well. Plugging in that thick black cable at the back <not a sex joke> isn't the neatest thing to do, I prefer the cables hidden and out of eyesight. Bottom mounted is the new thing to do, and it must be for some good reason.
