RAM voltage

Hi, i need a bit explanation about RAM's voltage,
Recently, someone told me about getting a RAM that got low voltage (1.5 or 1.5 below) and so i find out this RAM since it might void my proccessor's warranty (i5 3550).

Corsair Vengeance 8g Low profile 1600mhz

It said that it got 1.35v or 1.5v
What does voltage mean actually?
Does the 1.5v got better performance than the 1.35v one?

Thanks

    Hello,

You can void your CPU's warranty if you use too high voltage of RAM. I just cheked out the specs of that RAM and you should be good.

No, the 1.5V ram will not give better performance than 1.35V one, however depending on the type of ram, 1.35V ram might be able to OC better than 1.5V ram due to the lower power requirements.

    What is your exact motherboard?
  2. The newer the ram generally the lower the voltage.

Older DDR3 was 1.65v. Then there was 1.5v. Now there is 1.35v.

Performance is not affected by voltage.
  3. other than RAM voltage, is there something else that can void processor's warranty?

Bent pins by you, damaged pins, mishandling your CPU. Running it in a non certified board...if that even exists? lol
  5. haha im just being paranoid, but thanks anyway
