Am3+ cpu fan compatibility

I need to find an aftermarket cpu fan/heatsink because I am going to be overclocking, but I am having trouble finding a fan that is am3+ socket compatible. will a fan that is am3 compatible do the trick? Thanks, any and all helpful input is wanted and welcome!

Why would a fan be compatible with sockets? Sockets should only be matched up with the CPU chip. Try the Hyper 212+.

yes any AM2/AM2+/AM3 socket compatible CPU cooler will work perfectly
AM3/AM3+ is the same socket with additional holes for 3 pins for the upcoming Bulldozer CPU but the layout is the same
i have Hyper 212+ if you're going to overclock i think the V6GT will be perfect

Why would a fan be compatible with sockets? Sockets should only be matched up with the CPU chip. Try the Hyper 212+.

They need to mount to the socket in many cases.
