Hi guys, im trying to connect my Modem to my UPS but i dont know what the cable is called. The ups input is like the one you find on the back of the power supply, and the modem input looks like a thicker version of the cable you use to charge your mobile phone. Does anyone know what these connectors are called so i can look for the correct cable?

Also, should the surge protector be before or after the UPS?

Thanks

More about : type connector

The surge protector should be the first thing plugged in from the wall, everything else goes through that
can you post your ups model number etc, maybe we can find something for you,
US buyer I assume?

I'm not finding anything with those specific connectors sorry,
its possible to make your own cable of course, but the phone style connector is only 2 core, so no earthing which would worry me personally.
Sorry I couldn't help more man,

Is it possible i am using some wierd modem? My isp gave it to me a long time ago. What do regular modems use as a power input?

My Modem uses a similar thing to your second picture, maybe its worth contacting your isp to see if theres a newer model being issued,
how long have you had that modem you have?

Mines about 18 months old and as I said, the powerpack for that is similar to that pic
do you have a local electrician you could maybe ask to make up a suitable cable?
thats the only thing I can think of as the net hasn't yielded any joy...

Sorry I cant be of more help man, hope you get sorted ok though, if nothing else you can just not have the modem through the ups,
I know the reasoning for wanting it on there, but at least if your pc (and Data etc) is protected, thats the main thing.

it's just a dc jack, adapter plug, low current connector. but it's mostly about what adapter you need to use, on the bottom of your modem there will be a sticker with some information about voltage, go to any component shop and ask for a adapter with the voltage on the back of the modem. Did lose the original adapter?
