Hello,

Sabertooth X79 Motherboard; 1 each, 1TB HDD for OS; 1 each, 1TB HDD for Programs; 1 each, 1TB HDD for Scratch Disk; 1 each, 2TB HDD for files. Does it matter whether the HDD for the OS is plugged into the Intel or Marvel 6Gb/s SATA connections? Does it matter where any of the 4 HDDs are connected between the 2 Intel and 2 Marvel 6 Gb/s SATA connections?

Take a look at this

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2012/02/13/asus-p9x79-pro-review/5

It for sure looks to me like the Intel ports have a higher throughput than the Marvell controller...Definitely!

So If it was me...hook the O/S hdd to an Intel and my programs hdd to the Intel..scratch and files go to the Marvell.

This is purely from a speed viewpoint...and it seems the Intel controller has less issues as a whole than the Marvell controller as well!

Hope that helps you a bit!
