Which Intel processor is best for photography

I have Quad 9300 processor seem too slow for photoshop SC5 Should upgrADE TO I7 2600k

You shouldn't upgrade, photoshop need more size of Ram , try Downgrade to photoshop CS3/CS4 very fast, photoshop Cs5 and CS4/CS3 not far different effect, and photoshop depend on Plugin you have and SKILL. And important depend your Camera Photo size (picxel).
Or just trick for your system :
- disabled auto update photoshop
- don't too much install font
- open photoshop -- menu edit -- prefrence ---- performance --- let photoshop -- raise /slide up to use photoshop 75% OK and also checkbox enable Open gl -- advanced setting -- check all -- OK
