Monitor suddenly turns black then cpu freezes

hi! good day to all! btw im new here, please bear with me

okei, my problem is my monitor suddenly turns black while playing games like Witcher 2, Shogun 2, World in Conflict and any other games except for LoL or other online games. My cpu totally freezes up when it happens and the only way for me to return to windows is to restart my computer. Thanks in advance for your answers.

GPU= ati 4670
CPU= amd athlon x2
memory= 4gb

The power supply capacity is an important factor. What is it?

Next to be considered is whether any overclocking was done?

my power supply is 500watts and i didn't do any overclocking.

A good 500 watts PSU like Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, should be OK. There are some brands that are of questionable quality.

Since you did not do any overclocking, the problem may be in your PSU. Is there any way you can install a 500 watts or higher good quality PSU and try it out?
