Explain 512KBx4 vs 512kbx2

I'm guessing you are talking about upgrading RAM on a system. If that is correct, then yes, memory upgrade will yield much better results from your system, provided the motherboard can handle the RAM.

kb really? hes proably talking about L2/L3 cache, and anyway most of the time adding extra ram hardly makes any difference in performance.

You might be right, the first post is kinda lacking any detail ( I have seen posts where the op was taken away by his/her typing, thinking Mb and writing Kb). That would mean upgrading the CPU, indeed.
As far as the RAM is concerned, from personal (and not only) experience, I beg to differ.

A quad core might have 512kbx4, dual core 512kbx2, meaning simply...

512kb *per core*...
