  1. This one will do fine, ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3.

I OC'd it to 4.6GHz stable with no hick ups.

Of course u have to upgrade your CPU cooler.
  2. If u get an after market CPU cooler, u can OC to past 4.5GHz : )
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler

  3. Its only $19.99 after mail-in rebate + FREE SHIPPING as of today.
  4. so is there no need for a z77 upgrade??
  5. Do u want to spend more money?

Do u edit videos? With your CPU I would get the Z68, which is just fine.

If u can afford it, get Z77, but the feature gain is not that much.

And for the performance, its about the same.
  6. And if $$$ are no issue, get the Asus Maximus V GENE .

With this one u can OC past 5GHz, with water cooling.

But, its not because the Z77, but because the power design and high end premium parts.

  7. What i care about is a good core power as i would use it for 3d simulations and rendering with fair bit of gaming.. i definitely don wanna spend anything more.. :)

the coolermaster cooler would get it stabled at 4.5??
  8. for Asus Maximus V GENE is there any drawback for it been a micro-atx.. also what water cooling can u suggest??

OK, if u will OC 4.8+GHz, u need big cooling, because the heat is the enemy here.

The cooler it runs, longer the system works for u.

So decent cooling is great thing to have. Its also quieter.

This one is great to have.

NO, as an addition to your system. To have the top CPU + decent mobo + decent cooling solution.

For the $30 more u get much better cooling than that COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus.
  17. with this combination how far can i overclock my cpu?? it should be quite stable..
