I watch movies and play games and i haven't bought a monitor in over three years. I really want to get away from 6 bit panels as I'm sick and tired of seeing the dithering effects when a monitor tries to render the color but cant. Is it possible to get one that's good for gaming, and isn't 440 bucks?

The one that I'm looking at now is the ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q which is $439.00 at newegg

But 440 for a monitor seems a bit steep. I don't mind paying the money if it does what I need it too but for that price I can almost buy 3 23.6 inch TN LED LCD's. I also saw the ASUS ML249H but I heard the 8ms response time is too slow for gaming but it does have an 8 bit panel. I don't know but I figure there's got to be a good monitor for what I need that's not 440 bucks.

The Dell ultrasharp series is the best budget IPS monitor.

A 21.5" 1080p one is $213 on provantage

Dell also has deals for them constantly. 2 weeks ago the 24" was only $280.
The 21.5" gets as low as $200 every few months.
